Is Dall-E Hip to the Latest Lingo?
I got access to Dall-E!
When I received the email from Open-AI, I was just waking up on a Saturday morning. I was so excited that I panicked and couldn’t think of any prompts, so I pulled on from the list of prompts from my last post. An armadillo laying in a sunbeam on a windowsill, digital art.
These turned out beautifully, but I wanted something a little more exciting, so I added the words ‘colorful’ and ‘alibrije’. The result kind of reminded me of the monster from Human Remains, but less scary.
Shortly after that, I accidentally generated something horrifying when trying to answer the question ‘Does Dall-E understand new words like yeeted?’ I’m pretty confident that the answer is ‘no’. Dall-E seems to think I mis-typed ‘eated’ or ‘eaten’ based off of the pictures I got for the prompt:
“A baby dragon being yeeted out of its nest by its mom, oil paint.”
With a quick rephrasing, I got something more like what I expected:
I also have noticed a lot of mid-century modern furniture trending lately, so I typed up a quick query and was really impressed by this result.
So much so that I decided to turn the lamp in this picture into a real lamp. Turns out fabric paint is more like watercolor than something you can draw with. But it turned into a cool lamp overall.
Some other things I’ve generated include witches’ houses, noir jewelry heist stakeouts, wholesome grocery store trips, and a romantic moment between two cats. Similar to what I did in the Paperclip challenge post and with this lamp shade, I’m going to turn a bunch of these into other types of art.
